Quite simply put, TORRID is the hybrid of hybrids. They combine the highest-energy stage shows, with awesome guitar rhythms, huge drums, orchestrated keyboard sounds & effects, and melodic, flowing vocal progressions, to create their own strain of pandemonium.
Torrid first began unlike many bands that have recently come to be. In April of 2001, guitarist Ryan Gramza began searching for the missing link to complete his project. Along with his bandmates Krope, Blaze, Jay Jones & Sean “Chainsaw” Powell, the search began. Nearly a year later, an unexpected phone call came in followed by a package including 5 remade tracks from a singer actually living in Canada. After a brief audition/jam session, everyone soon realized that the missing link was now found. Chosen over dozens of applicants from all over the US, Lukas D “the scandalous one” moved down to Grand Rapids with one goal in mind – to the top.
Since the day Lukas D moved in to town, Torrid has won many competitions and has placed very highly in every other competition they've entered. Then came the fans (the MainTeam) and their first CD release "Scandalous".
In only 9 months since it’s release, "Scandalous" has sold over 1,000+ copies primarily throughout MI and the Midwest.
Torrid has made a home at both Ten Bells and The Intersection where they regularly pack the house with the help of some of the many amazing bands in the city. By April, they will have played at the Orbit Room 3 times even opening for national talent NonPoint, Steriogram, Sponge, Dope (twice), RA, & Dry Kill Logic.
Future plans for Torrid include beginning to record their follow up album in their newly remodeled NUTS PRODUCTION studio in Sparta, MI.
